If you have at least 3 months FoSCL membership remaining, you can apply for or renew a Gold Card, which allows discounted travel on the Settle-Carlisle Line. This is in effect a Dales Railcard for those who live outside the valid postcode areas. Please quote your membership number in the Special Requirements box when you get to the Checkout payment page.
If renewing your gold card, please mention this and give the gold card number.
Don't worry if your card doesn't arrive for a week or more; FoSCL has to order them individually from Northern Rail on a Friday and it can take an additional few days to process them. In any case they can't be renewed more than one month before the expiry date.
If you are not already a member of the Friends of the Settle-Carlisle Line you can join on-line and you will receive your gold card as soon as your membership application is processed.
VAT: the gold card, unlike membership cards, is VATable. It costs approximately £10.21 plus 17.5% VAT. This is not displayed when you purchase one because of limitations in the software package we have used to get on-line membership implemented quickly.
